Hospital Orang Asli

This is a story about yesterday.

Alhamdulillah, I enjoy a lot during all the visits we made to the hospitals. (Hospital Sg Buloh and Hospital Orang Asli). So yesterday, we went to Hospital Orang Asli, which has a different phenomenon than normal hospitals have. It was a great experience. Sampai sampai, macam biasa ada staff akan layan ktorg, cerita about all the stuff we should know about this hospital. How at first diorang was handled by the rural ministry then some of the orang asli (the more educated one) fight for transferring the hospital to the Ministry of Health Department sbb the health department would know more about health. Tapi bila ubah, banyak taknak pergi to hospital and prefer traditional medication because they thought that the ministry do not care about them as much as the rural ministry does. (stigma comes in, haha) Yes, banyak masalah. Well, even in orang asli area there are lots of political issues --' haha

And there are lots of malnourished children and why is that so? Kalau kita la kan, if we were to have children, first thing kita buat if ada satu je roti? Sure la kita utamakan our children, right? It's surprising how they still amalkan the 'surviving' concept. The food is ready, Sapa cepat makan, sapa lambat, there's nothing left. And if there is leftover they will try to feed the sick one but if the sick one refuse to eat, nobody cares. Sila bersyukur sekarang kita ada mama ayah kalau sakit mesti suap paksa makan semua. Time to la the perfect timing utk mengada haha Yes, banyak belajar pasal gratitude bila pi hospital ni.

Not to panjang kan cerita, so we met one of the patient there, Mr Akam. He has been in the hospital for THIRTY YEARS. He had a polio infection which results in limbs problem. Therefore, he couldn't walk. The polio infection had been eliminated from him but due to the effect he could not survive on his own. He has no family to take care of him, so staying in the hospital is the Only choice. He couldn't talk but he could express how happy he is through his facial expression. The moment ktorang smpai dekat tempat tu belum tegur lagi dia, bunyi riuh riuh macam someone is coughing. Rupa rupanya dia nmpk ktorg lambai lambai and the only way to call us since he couldn't talk is by making those coughing noise. Dia senyum lebar sangat. He showed us notes and pictures he had receive throughout his stay. I regret a bit for not bringing my instax. Before i came here, kaklong ada cakap, ada kawan dia bgtahu, diorg tangkap gambar orang asli, then suddenly the orang asli bawak like tombak mcm tu sbb dia ingatkan the camera flash tu macam stealing their soul. So that's why tak terfikir pon nk bawak instax. But then we agreed to gave the instax i gave to fiqah before to him. Dia tetiba tarik satu beg ni and in the bag ada instax orang orang before ni pernah bagi. Dia senyum lebar. Dia tunjuk empat jari. lepas tu macam tangan dekat dada mcm expressing how happy he is.

Despite of having all the difficulties, he is a very happy person. Deep inside kita tak tahu, but utk orang yg kurang banyak dari kita, dia still bersyukur dengan apa yg dia kata. Alhamdulillah for everything. :)

And here, i present to you Mr Akam :)
